# WIZE Chat

The chat is where most day-to-day work in WIZE happens. Ask questions, draft content, get research, kick off tasks.

## Starting a chat

In the chat header you'll see **Chat History**, **Memories**, and **New Chat** on the left, plus a **fullscreen** toggle on the right. At the bottom of the chat — beneath the conversation — sit the **Chat Input** and the **Send** button.

A new chat opens with Quick Starts — pre-built prompts you can launch with one click. You don't pick an assistant: WIZE chooses specialists automatically based on what you're working on, and switches as the conversation evolves.

> [!TIP]
> Confused by something on screen? The **camera button** in the chat input attaches a screenshot of your current WIZE screen, so you can just ask "what am I looking at?" instead of describing it.

## Specialist assistants

WIZE includes a team of assistants pre-trained on different fundraising workflows — major gifts, annual fund, grants, stewardship, events, and more. You don't need to memorize who's who. When you start a chat WIZE picks an assistant for you, and as the conversation evolves WIZE will switch to a different specialist if it better fits what you're doing.

The lineup of assistants can change over time, especially as you add new WIZE packages.

## What WIZE does behind the scenes

After you send a message, WIZE plans the work, picks tools to use, then returns a researched answer. What it did along the way — document edits, drafts, tasks — appears as interactive cards in the chat showing what changed. Document edits apply immediately, so there's nothing to approve: each edit card carries a **Revert** if you want the change undone (see [Documents](/help/documents/)).

The tools available to WIZE include:

- **Documents** — read your open documents, list your file library, edit documents, create new documents
- **Spreadsheets** — read and reference uploaded spreadsheet data
- **Designs** — create visual collateral (one-pagers, flyers, posters) that opens in a design tab (see [Documents](/help/documents/#designs))
- **CRM** — look up constituents, giving history, and prospect data when your CRM is connected (Blackbaud, Salesforce, Bloomerang, and others — see [Integrations](/help/integrations/)), and record notes, follow-ups, and contact reports on those records. What WIZE records for you stays in WIZE and works even before a CRM is connected. With **Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT**, WIZE can also **log an action or add a note back in your CRM** — it shows you the exact values first and writes only once you confirm, and stamps the record `[Created in WIZE]` so your team can spot it. Every other CRM is read-only
- **Email & calendar** — search and read email, create drafts in your inbox, and check or add calendar events through Gmail or Outlook (see [Integrations](/help/integrations/))
- **Tasks & boards** — create, update, complete, and search tasks; group them into boards
- **Folders** — create folders and file documents into them; the result card shows a folder chip you can click to jump to that folder
- **Memory** — save what's worth remembering between chats; recall it when relevant
- **Tags** — apply or look up file tags
- **Grants research** — search grant opportunities and funder data when Grants Research is enabled (see [Integrations](/help/integrations/#wize-skills))
- **Web search** — look things up on the open web when needed
- **Chat history search** — find prior conversations to pull context from

You don't pick tools manually — WIZE chooses based on what you're trying to do.

## Background agents

For bigger jobs — deep research, a multi-document draft — WIZE can hand the work to a background agent and keep chatting with you while it runs. While an agent is working, a strip above the chat input shows what it's doing (click it to see the list when several are running). When the agent finishes, its report arrives in the same conversation.

## Chat history

Past conversations live in the **Chat History** tab. From the three-dot menu on a chat (or via the same menu in the chat header), you can:

- **Copy Link to Chat** — share the chat by URL (one-way read access; no realtime multi-user).
- **Rename**
- **Archive** — moves out of the main history view without deleting.
- **Delete** — removes entirely.

The **Search** box filters history by keyword.

## Memory

WIZE can remember things between chats. Two kinds:

- **Personal memory** — applies only to your chats.
- **Organization memory** — applies to everyone in the Organization. Use for facts that should be true for the whole team.

Manage memories from the **Memories** tab in the chat header. WIZE may add memories on its own; you can also ask it to remember or forget something specific.
